This is a little old but...
HAPPY LOG BURNINGToday the York Branch of the Pollution Tax Association
delivered a sackfull of locally grown willow fuel logs
to York City Council to highlight the environmentally
friendly nature of wood fuel.
The Pollution Tax Association, in association with the
Fishergate Environmental Panel, want to bring this
simple change to York City Council's attention in order
to reach government targets on climate change.
Barnsley Council is making great progress in cutting its
carbon dioxide emissions by heating its buildings using
wood fuel, easily beating government targets set under the
Kyoto protocol.
Dick Bradford principal designer and energy engineer
stated "Barnsley have already achieved the Government's
2010 and 2020 targets. By 2050 we will have achieves
the target of reducing emissions by 80% compared to 1990.
This is 40 years ahead of schedule."
WHY CAN'T YORK DO THE SAME?Geoff Beacon, chair of the Pollution Tax Association,
stated "The disappearing Ice Sheet in the Arctic is a
warning to us all. A drowning Polar Bear is only an
early sign. We need urgent action now."
